Facing My Wardrobe Fears
As I grow within this niche fashion, there are times where I have to branch out. From new brands to custom pieces, I have learned new skills, and faced some challenges. These are the next obstacles!
Wearing Skirts
As a lolita, I have not been interested in wearing lolita skirts. I think this is because I was worried a blouse and skirt wouldn’t be flattering. Ruedonite inspired me to give them a try!
Skirts Are:
♡ less expensive
♡ show-off blouses
♡ less layers
With the summer weather just around the corner, it will be nice to have fewer layers! The money I save through skirts can go to other areas of my lolita wardrobe. Wearing skirts will allow me to show off my blouses.
Wearing an OP
I have never worn one before, but I'm always enchanted by one-piece dresses. The designs are so elegant and lovely!
One-Pieces are:
♡ very detailed
♡ less layers
♡ attention to accessories
I have not purchased a one-piece for one simple reason: size versatility. Many times this dress style doesn't have shirring. That being said, I cannot help but love them. A one-piece would be a fun challenge for me! It would be fewer layers in the summer. It would be a great option in a pinch.
What are some lolita challenges that you are looking to overcome? I'd love to know!
Stay Frilly~
“I love this idea as well. My greatest challenge is finding blouses at the moment, so branching out to one pieces would help me out a lot. I’m also highly interested in accessories like bonnets right now and I anticipate finding the right one for me, as well. Good luck with your Lolita wardrobe goals, I can’t wait to see what pieces you add. XOXO Tamara”
“You know, I never really thought about skirts being cooler in the summer, but they probably are! :o
I have a few OPs that have back shirring (IW, AP, VM and Pina Sweet Collection) and a few from indie brands that are in more versatile sizes. I actually tend towards more simple OPs, and I find that they can be nice for times when I’m in a rush!”
“You would be surprised to know that there are actually quite a few OPs with back shirring and full shirring. AP’s Dreaming Macaron and Melty Berry Princess come to mind. If you do a search on Lolibrary for OPs with shirring, you’ll see a variety of options from just about every major brand. Of course, indie brands are also a great option for plus-size friendly OPs! I have one from Sweet Mildred that fits me wonderfully.”
